Design Evaluation

This brand of popcorn "Pop Art" has a great design of patterns and colors.  The packaging is simple and uncluttered and follows the law of similarity.   The brand is prominently placed at the top. The bags are very eye catching.

All of the flavors have a different color of bag.

They seems to be making the colors more luxurious to be more upscale in their pricing.

The color of this packaging is fairly boring and plain.  Nothing catches my eye off the bat and it is not engaging.  It needs more exciting colors to help make it pop!
They should change up the brand Cadia and make it more eye appealing.

Contrast, Balance, Harmony

 Harmony occurs when everything feels connected visually with the colors and shapes.  I think it feels connected because of the lines, cool and dark colors.  The emotions that the pictures creates also makes the picture feel harmonious.  The grey, dark blue sky makes the yellow brick and structure behind it stick out more.

 Contrast is present in the picture due to proximity of opposing colors on the color wheel, the yellows, blues and orange.  There is also contrast in the tone with the colors going from light and dark

The maximum contrast seems to be the  bright rainbow emerging in the dark clouds, it gives on the center of interest.

Visceral Response

When we first talked about this assignment I knew what kind of picture I wanted to do a response with.  I took this picture a few months ago just outside my house.  Seymour describes how we emotionally have "electrochemical party tricks" toward objects and people that we think are beautiful.  Pictures of sunsets can evoke many emotions.

Light is entering through the bottom of the picture.  The light is flowing up through the clouds, which makes intense color tones throughout the picture.  The beautiful color tones are blissful and calming. The yellows, oranges, and reds are radiating.

The lines surrounding the buildings help to outline the suns light and make it more dominate and makes your eyes connect to the light.  There are many forms of texture from the shingles on the roof of the buildings to the growing trees.
